Michael Huarachi studied community health at the Silberman School in East Harlem, New York City. Academic interests include community & public health policy, public health nursing, and horticulture. A second bachelor’s degree in nursing is planned upon graduating from CUNY-Hunter. Knowledge gained from both areas will help Michael become a valuable contributor to discussions in public health policy. Michael is trained and certified in NADA protocol, an acupuncture technique used in a variety of community health settings including methadone detox programs, therapy for patients diagnosed with PTSD, and stress management programs. Michael is also an active member of the Park Slope Food Cooperative and, especially, greatly appreciates the community atmosphere a small, special grocery store can bring.
